POST-OPERATIVE INFORMATION
Facial surgery
Eyelid reduction
UPPER AND/OR LOWER EYELIDS
Immediately after your surgery:
-
Rest quietly – no exercise, lifting or bending for 1 week.
-
You may experience some swelling and bruising.
-
Cold Packs can be applied routinely 5 minutes on 5 minutes off for the first 48 hours post surgery (this will help to minimise swelling and bruising).
-
Sleep with a slight elevation (on 2 pillows) for the first 48 hours.
-
Take strong pain relieving medication as prescribed and only if required. Panadol 4-6 hourly usually helps.
Taking care of your wound, showering and what to do before your next appointment:
-
Apply ointment to the suture lines three times daily until we see you 5-7 days following your surgery.
-
You may drive when you feel safe to, but avoid it if possible for 2 weeks.
Post-operative appointment:
-
Your first initial post-op appointment will be made around 5-7 days post your surgery date.
-
Your sutures will be removed and wounds assessed.
